This might not be a surprise to many, if any, of y’all… But I was watching a video of Rand Paul speaking on the excessive spending of the DHS. No Surprise there…

But a funny thing came up while he was talking:
CISA (Under the DHS umbrella) has created their own graphic novels!

Obviously CISA’s not going to be competing with The Rippaverse by any means… But I’m curious as to why the government has so much money, they could make their own comics. o_O

I’m not necessarily mad… Though? I think reaching out to communities through different mediums is effective as most don’t care what the govt is doing. Especially with their boring ass websites and videos.

    My issues spans two categories:
A.) DHS and TSA could be made more efficient with the kind of frivolous spending this takes. Things move VERY slowly and a lot of things implemented by TSA were plans made 3-5 years ago that are only now being realized because the government is not fast to move. Yes, TSA, and subsequently DHS as a whole, were formed quickly as responses to 9/11. The first ten years were ridiculous. And then it all slowed down to a snail’s pace. I do believe certain aspects of government should be hard to change while others need to be very adaptable. That’s a long way to say I can’t bring water to a plane and I sometimes have to take my shoes off depending on which airport is feeling what way.

and 2.) I have read Real Fakes. Well… I started reading the first comic in this “Resilience Series”… But it is a hard to swallow horse pill of an info dump. There are characters drawn on these pages, but they are background to the insane amount of text being resented. Nonetheless, the story is that a couple of “Troll Farms” are being funded by idiot white male investors who don’t know how to think and those farms will be found and arrested… Even if they didn’t know what they were doing…? Seriously, the comic book seems to question itself with one of the characters asking if the “Bad Guy” was basically doing what the good guys do, but from a different perspective and the chick with THAT hair cut says bad information is bad so he goes to jail. End of Story. There is a heavy bias here and you can imagine which direction that may lean extremely into.

There’s a second comic called Bug Bytes… But I don’t have the patience or desire to try to tackle that now. Or maybe even ever.

Anyhoo, Just thought you should know the government has funded Graphic Novels. They are not good, so there are no worries that this will affect The Rippaverse by any means. Though maybe the government should just give us back our tax dollars for these graphic novels and let us vote with our money. I can think of at least three future projects in the Rippaverse my hard-earned money will go to. And they will be better reads than anything the Government has to say.
