Daily Poll 5: Was Ahmaud Arbery murdered?
This verdict came out a day or two after the Rittenhouse verdict and it was lost in the hustle and bustle of people either raging or ecstatic that Kyle was exonerated of his charges. Arbery’s killers were all found guilty of murder and since I don’t know too much about Arbery’s case I can’t say if it was or wasn’t murder. What do you guys think?

I believe voluntary manslaughter would have been more appropriate charge for the three defendants.

I think this comes down to this being a legal question or a philosophy/ethical one.
In the legal sense it was a slam dunk murder conviction because it occurred during a felony, actually more than one.
But ethically the difference between murder and not, is intent. I have little doubt that the intent was to harass him, in part, if not entirely, because he was black, but I don’t know that the intent to physically harm him was proven. So I could buy into manslaughter, even though they had no authority to attempt to arrest him.
This poll would be more clear by being broken down by suspect.

Thanks for the response. It was a good read. Like I said in the post I did not know too much about the case and I wanted the communities feedback. Also if I make the polls have too many options it will confuse or overwhelm people Thanks for the feedback much appreciated!
