Daily Poll 72: How did you find Rippa?

February of 2021, I think. I just got recommended some culture videos with a cool looking black man on the thumbnail. Watched one, really liked what he said, so I checked out the rest of his content. My first livestream I saw of him, he was covering an AnCap protest in Denmark IIRC. It was then that I began researching Anarcho-Capitalism, and I kept watching content to this cool-looking black man named Eric July.

A year later, I now consider myself a Christian AnCap, like Rippa, but also leaning heavily into Hoppe’s philosophy. I am thankful the YouTube algorithm gods gave me that one culture video with this one cool-looking black man who would help me realize my own beliefs.

His appearance Tim Pool Exposed me to him. I have basically been antigovernment my whole life. Hillbillies are raised that way 😂😂. But when I heard that he was in the cultural space and hard right anarchist I had to check him out. Been hooked ever since. Never miss a live show, no They Tube account so I just lurk. And Rap Circle is the only thing on my playlist right now.

I kept getting YouTube recommendations for his videos for many years. In 2019, I became interested in US politics and I considered myself a right-winged dude, since I liked capitalism and valued freedom, so I subscribed to a bunch of channels including Eric’s. When I saw Trump sending in the military to quell the riots and keeping people in their homes, I had mental whiplash since it went against what I thought conservatives valued and Eric was the only one who was calling it out.

I became a huge fan of him during March 2020, at that time I had a lot of questions about Covid and no one else around me did so I thought I was crazy and/or dumb until I heard Eric saying the same things I was thinking.

I saw his name first on facebook and how he was getting censored and targeted by both the authoritarian left and the Viagra of the state (left-libertarians). I also noticed that he had close relations with the right libertarian voices I follow, Tom Woods being the primary example. Plus, it was intriguing to see a rare black libertarian voice being so hated by the egalitarian control freaks, so I hit the subscribe button on his youtube channel to follow his work.

The more I followed his content, the more I’ve grown to like him. Whether he’s talking about prioritizing decentralization and secession, the importance of engaging the culture war and winning, how much we relate in video game hobbies, and his catchy music.

He’s become one of the few libertarian voices I am happy to financially support.

Interestingly enough, the Facebook algorithm sent me his way. I think it was 2018 or 19, I stumbled across being libertarian on Facebook while looking for something else. From there I found some of Eric’s YouTube content, and watched a couple long form videos. Of course he fucking nailed it on every point, so I watched everything he’s got that I could find, and spread it around to people I knew. I’ve since been booted from Facebook for boogaloo and free speech related offenses. Since I was involved in underground metal music as a teenager and young adult, I looked into his music as well, and liked what I heard there too. It’s refreshing to have voices like Eric’s in this space, because he’s not just another libertarian scholar, armchair philosopher, or activist. There is a place for those guys, and we need them, but it’s really great to just talk about being a regular person with interests and passions, who is also anti-state.

But, fun side note, I used to watch Eric’s old cover videos back in the day, so he was familiar. It took a while to put two and two together though.

I was on a Reddit sub Nonewnormal that got shut down because of censorship. The sub was about not accepting the new normal and questioning the narrative of Covid. Someone posted a video clip of one of Rippa’s segments and I’ve been hooked ever since. I admit I was a leftest, but since the Covid regime my eyes have really opened to how messed up they really are. I now consider myself an independent who is leaning more toward the libertarian views.

I recommend embracing anarchy. Are really ok with letting an institution exist that just gets to mandate this shit at the drop of a hat.

Back around 2015 the being libertarian Facebook group was posting his YouTube vids quite a bit. And I found that group while just delving into libertarianism and whatnot.

I mainly found him through a lot of his comic book videos. I believe the first video of his I’ve seen was about tokenization, which was recommended to me after I finished watching a Just Some Guy video, I think. Initially, I was wondering why he seemed to be so angry all the time. Then, I started to check out more of his content, and see that it wasn’t so much anger. It’s an incredible amount of confidence that he has whenever he puts out any content. Been subscribed to him ever since.

I forgot so I went to see the first video I saw of his. Looks like it was a joker review or making fun of sjw’s complaining about women in comic realness. I may have seen him on as a guest on some other channel.
