Daily Poll 873: Is self-immolation effective?
There have been two high profile cases of self-immolation this year. One was a young Air Force member setting himself on fire in front of an embassy in order to protest American’s support of Israel which in his mind was leading to genocide in Gaza and Palestine. The second was a man who self-immolated during Trump’s criminal trial to raise awareness to the fascist coup that Biden and Trump will supposedly pull on us. While I do think self-immolation is shocking and can do a lot to raise awareness it just mars the movement of the self-immolator more than it garners support for said movement.
