Humans are emotional creatures and absolute honesty isn’t always the best route to maintain amicable relationships. There is of course lying with malicious intent. To lie purely to gain personally or to destroy the reputation of someone is pure evil. I like being an honest person for this very reason. What about you? I work in corporate. Of course I lie. I don’t in real life, as it’s much easier to just tell the truth then try to keep up with what you lied about and to whom… But whether its timecard mitigation, time off, email interactions, or presenting numbers… Corporate requires you to lie or exit stage left.
I love what Jordan Peterson said his statistics professor taught him: Numbers (Stats) don’t lie, but people who use statistics are liars.
