Being a car enthusiast all my life, my natural go-to category is car games and racing simulators. My personal favorite car game franchise currently is forza Motorsport, although I’ve been playing wreckfest on ps4 quite a bit the past few days.

I’m curious what non car enthusiast gamers think of car games. Are they remotely interesting to people who aren’t into cars or is the entirety of the appeal rooted in being a car lover? Also, for non car enthusiasts, what car games have appealed to you over the years and why?

I got my license and first car in 2020 and I’ve gotten a lot more interested in cars as a result. I wouldn’t consider myself a hardcore enthusiast but I do know more than the average joe about cars I’d say. I don’t really play car games at all. I love Mario Kart and I think I have the original Gran Turismo on PS1 that I’ve played like once or twice.

I have a lot of hours invested in the original Grand Turismo. The calsonic skyline was one of my favorite cars to drive. Mario Kart is a good one too, especially the n64 versions which were a little more about being able to drive the kart than some of the newer versions that seem to be designed to put the worst driver in first place. lol.

As a non-car enthusiast, I spent a lot of time playing the “Driver” franchise back in the early 2000’s. It got frustrating and tedious at times, and the only reason I played them was because I was bored and did not have Other games to play.

    Still, they kept me entertained.

I haven’t played those games myself, but I remember seeing them on the shelf back In the day. Early 2000s was all about need for speed for me. Thanks for your input.
