Marvel keeps missing the point and shills keep stanning for Marvel. It’s a vicious circle that is hilariously celebrated joyously by people who don’t like comic books, comic book readers, or comic book companies even to begin with.

So here you have Screen Ran celebrating Marvel ending the Punisher for the foreseeable future, thinking its a great idea. Credit where credit is due, they don’t actively call out the type of person that gravitates towards the Punisher symbol, only mention that it is co-opted by several groups:

“This Punisher series was surrounded by controversies since its beginning. It was Marvel’s attempt to salvage its most controversial character after the Punisher’s skull logo had risen to prominence in recent years for being co-opted by several groups that the House of Ideas did not want to be associated with. This is why the Punisher was given a new logo and role as the “Fist of the Beast”, the chosen High Slayer of the cult of assassins known as the Hand, renouncing the use of firearms but not his brutal, murderous crusade against crime. However, it’s clear from the conclusion of this story that Marvel’s purpose was never to “redeem” the Punisher but to get rid of him completely.”

That being said, they also had the audacity to say the title was controversial at first, but became a compelling story… Blah Blah Blah… They had the hubris to drop this line:

“Many fans who reacted negatively to the premise of this new series were soon roped in by a beautiful, compelling exploration of Frank Castle’s past and the deepest psychological analysis of the character that was seen in years.”

People were already checked out when Marvel tried to change the symbol. And it is true, a lot of people love/use the symbol of Punisher and know nothing of the comic book, or even his appearances in Netflix shows, one of which was his own… But nonetheless, this write seems to think this story where Frank gets told he was about to be divorced and effectively “Minecraft’s” himself is a good story. I disagree.

    No Thanks. NEXT!
