I’ve become increasingly more conservative on this issue in recent times. To me, the abundance of traditional marriage is one of the pillars that any orderly, longstanding and flourishing human civilization requires. Indispensable, really. Unfortunately, we currently live in a low-trust society (likely by design) and that regrettably produces further hesitation to enter into that kind of a commitment. So I do still sympathize with those that see marriage as somthing carrying high personal costs; physically and emotionally. Costs you don’t want to have to bear. But the cost to our species abroad when that institution degrades is also very high. I used to not think this way, but my opinion is slowly changing.

Not long ago I would have rolled my eyes when someone said that making sexual issues a public matter was a slippery slope to all kinds of bad things; I would say it was a logical fallacy. I was wrong. The slope seems to be very real.

I’m for whatever effectively stops the nonsense at this point. Kids in public schools are literally being taught to hate you, your kids and your values. Even if your kids are homeschooled, the other 99 kids in the neighborhood that go to public school are being taught to hate your kids (Pete Quinones was making this point recently.) Ending public schools is great but is also a long term strategy. If anything can be done to mitigate the indoctrination in the short term, let’s do it.

Sorry to hear about your cat, Joker. That is indeed the sad part about owning pets. The wife and I have two brother cats we purchased from a local shelter as kittens last year.

Well said. The pols thinking basically boils down to: Creating voting blocks to exploit > The actual health concerns of women and children.

I’m in the same boat. I have no idea what the end game is for Russia or where this is going. I’ve heard people speculate on everything from Putin rebuilding the former USSR all the way to spiritual/ religious reasons. I’m not sure I buy nor see much evidence for either, but it’s a head scratcher.

I think the weakness of Biden in the US is playing into some of this too. Enough people seem to be hesitant to follow someone into a bright and glorious future who I’m quite certain doesn’t know where he is half the time. And further has failed to accomplish much of his own stated agenda.

One of my side pursuits is actually biblical studies; reading actual biblical scholarship as opposed to popular Christian books. To me, it’s fascinating stuff trying to study scripture in it’s original Ancient NearEastern context. And I believe you actually get much closer to what the original author was trying to communicate versus what you might hear from famous pastor XYZ. I do consider myself a Christian, but without any denominational pretexts. I like to delve into books that aren’t necessarily canonical, such as (surprise, surprise) the Book of 1st Enoch.

To me, Rogan is only useful for as long as he will give a platform for guys like Dave Smith to speak to the millions. But I don’t disagree with you at all that Rogan himself doesn’t have a whole lot of value in spreading liberty. Another wishy-washy moderate. And he and guys like Tim Pool will always be that. And recent events have telegraphed who really holds the keys in the relationship between he and Spotify.

This is a tough one, Joker. I’m not sure where I stand on Alex Jones as a whole. A couple of acquaintances of mine were really into Info Wars. On one hand, I like that he is one more drain on the system as the left has to occasionally waste resources to shoot him down. On the other hand, I have the sentiment that for all the hilarious things he got right on Info Wars (or almost right), he gets a lot of things very wrong. And the times I’ve seen him on Tim Pool’s show (which I tuned into only because Michael Malice was on at the same time Alex was), he really acted a fool and became annoying to watch.

Put another way, drawing a hard line between someone engaging in harmless fan fiction versus throwing an established character’s story in the trash and remolding them for your own selfish purposes. Whether that’s to be woke, to insert yourself as the character or to make some kind of a statement the real character isn’t making; political or otherwise. When someone crosses that line, call them out first. If they double down, then it’s time to rally the troops for mock and shame duty.
